Education Committee considers Protection of Vulnerable Groups and Additional Support for Learning, 12/05/10 [S]

During its meeting of 12 May 2010 the Scottish Parliamet Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture Committee took evidence on subordinate legislation under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

The Committee took evidence from Adam Ingram, the Minister for Children and Early Years, Andrew Mott, PVG implementation legislation manager; Katrine Feldinger, project lead; and Kathleen McInulty, a team member in the Scottish Government PVG team.

Issues discussed included how the new PVG scheme will operate, issues of automatic listing and arrangements for host parents on school exchange visits.

At this meeting the Committee also took evidence on subordinate legislation in relation to the Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Acts 2004 and 2009. The Committee heard from Rachel Sunderland, team leader, Ian Glover, policy officer at the support for learning branch, and Robert Marr, solicitor in the children, education, enterprise and pensions division; all from the Scottish Government.
