Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Bill, 20/07/09 [S]

The Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Bill has received Lords consideration of Commons amendments and Royal Assent.

Peers agree to amendments regarding: customs functions of the UK Border Agency; short-term holding facilities, allowing them to be used for immigration detainees or for a mix of immigration detainees and persons detained under other powers; the common travel area; and transfer of judicial reviews to the new tribunal system.

The Bill receives Royal Assent to become the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009.
