Bullying Oral Question, 27/11/08 [S]

During Question Time on 27 November 2008 John Wilson (SNP) asked the Scottish Executive what initiatives are taking place to reduce bullying in the school environment.

The Minister for Schools and Skills, Maureen Watt, replied that the Scottish Government funds respectme, Scotland's anti-bullying service, which provides advice, information, resources, support and training to develop, refresh and support the implementation of anti-bullying policies in schools, local authorities and communities, and to build capacity to prevent and deal effectively with bullying.

The Scottish Government also provides funding of 160,000 per year for three years to the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children for the ChildLine bullying helpline that helps children who are directly affected by bullying.
