Keeping children safe at Christmas, 20/11/08 [E/NI/S/W]

The Department for Children, Schools and Families has been working with the Child Accident Prevention Trust to produce a leaflet for parents which highlights the potential dangers to children in the home over the Christmas period.

Designed to look like an advent calendar, there are five windows containing the following messages:

  • Turn off Christmas lights when you leave the house or go to bed
  • Avoid decorations that are sharp or breakable
  • Clear away dregs of drinks left in glasses
  • Keep candles away from children and decorations
  • Keep toys with small parts away from small children.
Tis the season to be careful can be downloaded from the Sure Start website.
