Regeneration policy statement, 02/06/06 [S]

The Scottish Executive has released its regeneration policy statement. The statement outlines how the Executive plans to tackle poverty and create sustainable communities.

The policy statement identifies the Clyde Corridor as a priority for regeneration, and Inverclyde and Ayrshire as areas where the Executive will support major regeneration initiatives. It explains that the Executive will invest 1.2 billion to 2008 to provide 21,500 affordable homes.

The Executive will be asking stakeholders for their views over the coming months through a series of meetings and events. It will publish a detailed action plan later in 2006 and publish regular progress reports.

For more details see the publication, Regeneration Policy Statement, which is available on the Scottish Executive website.
