Regeneration Policy Statement, 28/02/06 [S]

Scottish Executive policy statement on regeneration. In this policy statement the Executive outline the ways in which they plan to tackle matters including poverty and disadvantage. The plans include targeting action to regenerate the most deprived neighbourhoods.

Priorities relating to regenerating neighbourhoods include:

  • investing 1.2 billion to 2008 to provide 21,500 affordable homes;
  • ensuring that housing investment ties into our regeneration priorities;
  • making improving the quality of our greenspace in Scotland a key priority through the Sustainable Development Strategy;
  • providing 24m to 2008 to tackle vacant and derelict land; and
  • the Executive playing a more proactive role in strategic land acquisition to facilitate regeneration.
