Child Protection Written Answer, 08/12/05 [S]

Written Answer given in response to Marlyn Glen's (Lab) question asking the Scottish Executive what plans it has for the promotion and monitoring of the law on physical punishment of children.

Cathy Jamieson, Minister for Justice, replied that the Scottish Executive will consider this further in deciding future research programmes. She said that the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2003 clarified the law on the physical punishment of children and that a leaflet about the new legislation was distributed widely to parents and staff working with children and families.

The complete answer to this and any other questions can be found in the Scottish Parliament's Written Answer Report 5 - 9 December 2005.
