Inquiry into the Purposes of Scottish Education - Education, Culture and Sport Committee 03/02 - [S]

The Scottish Parliament's Education, Culture and Sport Committee is working in parallel with the Scottish Executive to stimulate the debate on Education.

The Committee launched its inquiry into the Purposes of Scottish Education in March 2002. A discussion paper has been published to help set out the inquiry and introduce issues for debate and comment, encouraging Scottish people to inform the inquiry.

Shaping the inquiry is an overall key question: Is there a need in a rapidly changing world for radical change in the education system and six themes are identified to shape the inquiry. A discussion paper - SP Paper 553 has been produced and can be accessed on-line from the External Links section on this page or obtained by contacting the Committee Clerk at: education@scottish.parliament.uk

An interactive discussion board has also been set up and can be accessed from the External Links section on this page.
