Teacher Registration Oral Question, 24/06/15 [S]

During Portfolio Question Time on 24 June 2015 Alex Johnstone (Con) asked the Scottish Government what analysis it has undertaken of its proposed changes to registering teaching staff.

The Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Angela Constance, replied that teacher data that was provided by individual schools was analysed to show how many teachers would be affected by changes to registration. As of September 2014, 100 independent schools employed 4,034 individuals as teachers. Of that total, approximately 645 staff were not registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland.

For the full answer to this and any subsidiary questions see the Scottish Parliament Official Report 24 June 2015 which is available from the Scottish Parliament website.
