Eating Disorders Written Answer, 18/06/15 [S]

Written Answer given in response to Jim Hume's (LD) question asking the Scottish Government what assessment it has made of the impact that social media can have on young people at risk of eating disorders.

The Minister for Sport, Health Improvement and Mental Health, Jamie Hepburn, replied that online safety in Scotland is monitored by the Scottish Government led Stakeholder Group on Child Internet Safety; and through its membership of the executive board of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety. The Scottish Government recognises the need for these bodies to work in partnership with industry, service providers and other interests to ensure safe and responsible use of the internet and social media as part of a wider focus on heal thy relationships and behaviours
