Carers Written Answer, 18/06/15 [S]

Written Answer given in response to Jim Hume's (LD) question asking the Scottish Government how it ensures that the rights of unpaid carers are protected and promoted.

The Minister for Sport, Health Improvement and Mental Health, Jamie Hepburn, replied that the national carers strategy 2010-15 acknowledges the immense contribution that carers and young carers make to society. However we want to accelerate the pace of change to strengthen support to, and further the rights of carers and young carers. That is why we introduced the Carers (Scotland) Bill to Parliament on 9 March 2015.

For the full answer to this and other questions see the Scottish Parliament Written Answer Report 18 June 2015 which is available form the Scottish Parliament website.
