Support Staff in Schools Oral Question, 6/05/15 [S]

During General Question Time on 6 May 2015 Johann Lamont (Lab) asked the Scottish Government what steps it is taking to assess and sustain the levels of support staff in schools.

The Minister for Learning, Science and Scotland's Languages, Dr Alasdair Allan replied, that is a matter for education authorities, as the employment of teachers and of support staff and recruitment practices are ultimately matters for local authorities. They have the statutory duty in relation to education expenditure and are responsible for providing a staff complement that meets the needs of their schools and pupils in light of the resources available.

For the full answer to this and any subsidiary questions see the Scottish Parliament Official Report 6 May 2015 which is available from the Scottish Parliament website.
