Commission on Widening Access Oral Question, 18/03/15 [S]

During Portfolio Question Time on 18 March 2015 Bruce Crawford (SNP) asked the Scottish Government  whether it will provide an update on progress on establishing a commission on widening access as outlined in the programme for government 2014-15.

The Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Leaning, Angela Constance replied, that she is pleased to advise Parliament that, yesterday, the Scottish Government announced the appointment of Dame Ruth Silver as chair of the commission on widening access. Dame Ruth is a distinguished figure in the world of education, with a long track record of supporting social inclusion. I am delighted that she has agreed to take on this important role. Other members of the commission will be announced shortly.

For the full answer to this and any subsidiary questions see the Scottish Parliament Official Report 18 March 2015 which is available from the Scottish Parliament website.
