Scottish Youth Parliament Motion, 14/01/15 [S]

Motion lodged before the Scottish Parliament on 14 January 2015 by Christina McKelvie (SNP) on Scottish Youth Parliament . The full text of the motion reads:

That the Parliament congratulates the Scottish Youth Parliament on what it considers its successful campaign, Care. Fair. Share, which aims to secure fair financial and living conditions for young carers; understands that this campaign has helped to secure changes in the guidance for education maintenance allowance in order to make it easier for young carers to keep their payments and allow them to focus on their studies; notes that the members of the Scottish Youth Parliament engaged with 7,000 young people through local activities, consultations and events and gathered 1,000 responses to their consultation on carers legislation, which showed that caring responsibilities had a detrimental impact on young carers’ wellbeing and education, and hopes that the Scottish Youth Parliament will continue to raise awareness on such important subjects.
