Tobacco Packaging Written Answer, 2/12/14 [S]

Written Answer given in response to Richard Simpson's (Lab) question asking the Scottish Government whether its consideration of plain packaging for tobacco includes the cigarette wrappers.

The Minister for Public Health, Maureen Watt replied that the provisions set out in Part 5 of the UK Children and Families Act 2014 refers to the regulation of retail packaging etc. of tobacco products including cigarette wrappers. This includes the definition of packaging in subsection 15: “packaging”, in relation to a tobacco product, means—
(a) the external packaging of that product,
(b) any internal packaging of that product,
(c) any wrapper of that product, or
(d) any other material attached to or included with that product or anything within paragraphs (a) to (c).
