Violence Against Women Motion 25/11/14 [S]

Motion lodged before the Scottish Parliament on 25 November 2014 by Christina McKelvie (SNP) on International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

The full text of the motion reads:

That the Parliament recognises that 25 November 2014 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women; understands that this day aims to raise awareness of this issue and highlights that, worldwide, one in three women have experienced physical or sexual violence,133 million women and girls have undergone genital mutilation and that in, 2012, half of all women killed died at the hands of a partner or family member; believes that ending violence against women is and must remain a priority, and hopes that the campaign, Orange Your Neighbourhood, which has been launched by UN Women, will help to raise awareness and end any gender-based violence.
