Women in Training Courses Oral Question, 29/10/14 [S]

During Portfolio Question Time on 29 October 2014 Drew Smith (Lab) asked the Scottish Government how it supports women in taking up places on training courses.

The Cabinet Secretary for Training, Youth and Womenís Employment, Angela Constance, replied that the Scottish Government recognises that women can face challenges in accessing training and is taking a range of steps to address them. For example, in implementing the recommendations of the commission for developing Scotlandís young workforce, the Scottish Further and Higher Education Funding Council and Skills Development Scotland have been asked to take action to reduce gender segregation in their courses and programmes, and to report on progress.

For the full answer to this and any subsidiary questions see the Scottish Parliament Official Report 29 October 2014 which is available from the Scottish Parliament website.
