Educational Outcomes for Looked After Children Oral Question, 02/10/14 [S]

During Question Time on 2 October 2014 Willie Coffey (SNP) asked the Scottish Government whether it monitors how the educational outcomes for looked after children in kinship care placements compares with those of children in residential or foster care.

The Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Michael Russel, replied that tariff scores of children in kinship care with friends or relatives are higher than those of children in residential care, but lower than those of children in foster care. However, the data is subject to large fluctuations due to the small numbers of children in these categories.
