Scottish Families Telehealth Motion, 23/09/14 [S]

Motion lodged before the Scottish Parliament on 23 September 2014 by Anne McTaggart (SNP) on Scottish Families Telehealth Programme.

The full text of the motion reads:

That the Parliament welcomes the Scottish Families Telehealth Programme, which is a new service for families affected by alcohol and drugs misuse in rural or remote locations throughout Scotland; notes that the telehealth programme is supported by the Scottish Government’s drug and alcohol policy units; understands that the programme will initially provide advice and support via the telephone or Skype to family members and individuals affected emotionally, financially, socially and possibly physically by someone else’s alcohol or drug misuse; understands that the programme will support families to improve their coping skills and confidence, increase their knowledge of the substance misuse problem and increase their awareness of their own needs in relation to it; believes that the Scottish Families Telehealth Programme will bring much-needed support to families in rural locations, helping to reduce their isolation and improve their wellbeing, and wishes every success with further developments of this service in the future.
