Scottish Independence Bill: A consultation on an interim constitution for Scotland - summary, 16/06/14 - 20/10/14 [S]

The Scottish Government have published a summary of the consultation paper on the Scottish Independence Bill, which provides a process for Scotland to become an independent state in March 2016 and sets out a draft interim constitution. Consultation to 20 October 2014.

The consultation paper contains:

o    the draft Scottish Independence Bill providing for Scotland to be an independent State and setting out the interim constitution which would apply from Independence Day;

o    detailed commentary explaining the provisions of the Bill, and summarising the content of the renewed Scotland Act which would sit alongside it;

o    an explanation of the process following a yes vote, including the establishment of a Constitutional Convention to prepare a permanent written constitution.

o    a set of 6 broad, qualitative questions seeking views on all aspects of the proposals contained in the paper.
