Sexual Exploitation Written Answer, 15/07/13 [E/NI/S/W]

Written Answer given in the House of Lords on 15 July 2013 in response to Lord Hylton's question asking Her Majesty’s Government what is their timetable for signing and ratifying the Council of Europe Lanzarote Convention against Sexual Exploitation of Children.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Home Office, Lord Taylor of Holbeach, replied that the UK signed the Council of Europe's Convention on the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse in May 2008. Officials are currently leading the work to examine what else needs to be done under domestic legislation and in terms of the practical arrangements before the UK can be assessed to be fully compliant. This work will confirm the timetable for ratification of the Convention.

For the full answer to this and other questions see the House of Lords Hansard 15 July 2013 which is available from the UK Parliament website.
