Education Committee looks at care and the Children and Young People Bill, 25/06/13 [S]

During its meeting of 25 June 2013 the Scottish Parliament Education and Culture Committee took evidence on taking children into care and on the Children and Young People Bill.

The Minister for Children and Young People, Aileen Campbell, gave evidence to the Committee as part of its inquiry into decision making on whether to take children into care. This was the final oral evidence session and a report will be published after the summer recess. They also heard from David Blair, head of looked-after children policy; and Phil Raines, who is head of child protection; Scottish Government.

The Committee also held its first Stage 1 oral evidence session on the Children and Young People Bill. They took evidence from Scottish Government officials -  Elisabeth Campbell, Gordon McNicoll, Scott Wood, Boyd McAdam, Lynn Townsend and Stuart Robb. They also heard from David Blair, Kit Wyeth, Ruth Inglis, Susan Bolt and Clare Morley.
