National Risk Framework to Support the Assessment of Children and Young People, 20/11/12 [S]

The Scottish Government has published a national risk assessment 'toolkit' for child protection to support practitioners in identifying and acting on child protection risks in children and young people.

The document sets out a framework and a set of tools to support practitioners working with children and young people to assess their risks from harm and abuse. Based on the Getting It Right for Every Child approach to well-being and using the National Practice Model as its basis, the Framework sets out a process for assessing risk and a set of practical tools to enable practitioners to consider key factors in the child's and young person's lives. Those factors include risk factors as well as resilience and protective issues. The tools will also facilitate greater understanding of the child's family relations and support the development of robust, effective chronologies.
