Breastfeeding Written Answer, 02/07/12 [E/NI/S/W]

Written Answer given in the House of Commons on 2 July 2012 in response to Kate Green's (Lab) question asking the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills what research his Department has commissioned into the potential effect of its Modern Workplaces proposals on breastfeeding rates and duration; and if he will make a statement.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Employment Relations, Consumer and Postal Affairs, Norman Lamb, replied that Business, Innovation and Skills officials spoke with the Department of Health during the preparation of the consultation document. These discussions focused on breastfeeding and maternal health. The Department of Health were content with the proposals in the consultation. The Government response to the consultation will be published later in the year.

For the full answer to this and other questions see the House of Commons Hansard 2 July 2012 which is available from the UK Parliament website.
