Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse Written Answer, 30/04/12 [E/NI/S/W]

Written Answer given in the House of Commons on 30 April 2012 in response to Fiona Mactaggart's (Lab) question asking the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps she has taken towards ratifying and implementing the Council of Europe convention on the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse since 20 May 2011.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Equalities, Lynne Featherstone, replied that the UK signed the Council of Europe's Convention on the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse in May 2008. Since May 2011, a number of discussions have taken place across Government to assess the individual articles within the Convention and establish a clear picture of current levels of existing compliance.

For the full answer to this and other questions see the House of Commons Hansard 30 April 2012 which is available from the UK Parliament website.
