Summary of Consultation responses on the Common Core of Skills, Knowledge & Understanding and Values for the Children's Workforc

The Scottish Government has published a summary of responses received to the consultation around the common core of skills, knowledge and values for those working with children, young people and families.

The consultation provided an initial draft Common Core and invited views in response to 9 open questions. The overarching message from respondents was that, while it provides a good start, the draft needs additional work.

The responses to the consultation will be fully considered by the Common Skills Working Group who will revisit the content of the Common Core in light of responses received.  The Working Group will need to ensure development of a second version of the Common Core that balances the wide aspiration for the Common Core whilst incorporating as much as possible of the feedback from consultation respondents. It is likely that the Working Group will re-engage with consultation respondents and other key stakeholders once they have created the next version of the Common Core to discuss both it and the plans for implementation.

For full details see Summary of Consultation responses on the Common Core of Skills, Knowledge & Understanding and Values for the Children's Workforce in Scotland which is available from the Scottish Government website.
