Protecting Vulnerable Groups and Self-directed Support Guidance, 22/07/11 [S]

The Scottish Government has published guidance on the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and Self-directed Support (SDS).

The PVG scheme has a list of people who are barred from working with protected adults; help to ensure that those who have regular contact with children and protected adults through paid and unpaid work do not have a known history of harmful behaviour; reduces the need for PVG Scheme members to complete a detailed application form for every new job; and strike a balance between proportionate protection and robust regulation. It is run by Disclosure Scotland.

Self-Directed Support (SDS) is the support individuals and families have after making an informed choice on how their individual budget' or allocation' is used to meet the outcomes they have agreed.

For full details see Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and Self-directed Support (SDS) which is available from the Scottish Government website.
