National Care Standards: Foster Care and Family Placement Services, 16/05/11 [S]

The Scottish Government has reissued the National Care Standards for Foster Care and Family Placement Services.

Fostering agencies may be voluntary and independent services or they may be local authorities acting as fostering agencies. All fostering agencies must comply with these national care standards. All providers must provide a statement of function and purpose when they are applying to register their service.

On 1 April 2011 a new independent scrutiny and improvement body replaced the Care Commission - Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (SCSWIS).

For full details see National Care Standards: Foster Care and Family Placement Services which is available from the Scottish Government website.
