Adoption Oral Question, 10/05/11 [E/S/W]

Oral Question in the House of Lords on 10 May 2011 from Lord Waddington asking Her Majesty's Government what steps they propose to take to ensure that children do not lose the chance of being adopted as a result of the closure of adoption agencies following the Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2007.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Schools, Lord Hill of Oareford, replied that the Government are committed to adoption where this is in a child's best interests. The effect of the introduction of the regulations has been monitored, and it has been made clear to local authorities that they should work with the voluntary sector to maximise the number of successful adoptions.

For the full answer to this and any subsidiary questions see the House of Lords Hansard 10 May 2011 which is available from the UK Parliament website.
