Written Answer given in response to John Park's (Lab) question asking the Scottish Executive when the review and update of the existing data on childcare provision will be completed and made publicly available.
The Minister for Children and Young People, Aileen Campbell, replied that work to synthesise recent research and statistics mapping childcare provision in Scotland is ongoing. This draws on published Care Inspectorate findings, along with published statistics covering provision and use of childcare and pre-school in Scotland; and recent evidence exploring the experiences of users and non-users of childcare from numerous published sources. This work will be used internally to inform discussions around the development of policy for the Early Years.
