Barnardo's Debate, 15/06/05 [S]
During its session on 15 June Parliament noted the centenary of the death of Dr Thomas Barnardo in 1905 and recognised the work that Barnardo's does today to help children and families. Included in discussion was the need for core funding for charitable organisations.

Charities and Trustee Investment (Scotland) Act 2005 [S]
An Act of the Scottish Parliament that will provide a new definition of a 'charity' based on the principle of public benefit and enhanced powers for Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) and ensure firmer regulation of fundraising activities.

CLIC & Sargent Cancer Care to merge 4/05 [E/NI/S/W]
Two leading charities dedicated to the care and support of children with cancer and their families, are set to merge. Having worked together for many years, Cancer & Leukaemia in Childhood (CLIC) and Sargent Cancer Care for Children share many values and ideals. It is hoped the merger will offer improved and additional services.

The Committee is seeking evidence on The Charity Test, the Regulation of the Charity Sector, Governance, Fundraising and Consequences of the Bill's enactment. Evidence must be submitted by <b>24 January 2005</b>.
