Written Answer given in the House of Lords on 27 February 2012 in response to Baroness Walmsley's question asking Her Majesty's Government whether, in view of the part played by the United Kingdom in the negotiation of a new optional protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child to provide a communications procedure, and their ratification of the similar optional protocols to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the United Kingdom will sign the optional protocol at the ceremony to be held in Geneva at the end of February, with a view to ratifying it in the near future.
