Consultation on the use of intermediaries for vulnerable witnesses in Scotland, 15/10/07 - 15/01/08 [S]
Scottish Government consultation asking for views on the use of intermediaries for vulnerable witnesses in the Scottish Justice System. An intermediary is a third party who may act a go-between to facilitate communication between a vulnerable witness and the court. The Scottish Government would like comments on the two options for proposal which are either to work within the current legal framework to improve practice, or to introduce intermediaries as a statutory special measure in The Vulnerable Witnesses (Scotland) Act 2004. Scottish Executive newsletter providing an update of the work that is taking place in the Victims and Witnesses Unit of the Scottish Executive. Included in the newsletter is information about the new special measures for child witnesses, visual recording of investigative interviews with children and the launch of a new website for people being a witness in court.

Vulnerable witness support, 03/04/06 [S]
Vulnerable witnesses, including children, will have access to extra support from 3 April 2006. The special measures form part of the Vulnerable Witnesses (Scotland) Act which received Royal assent on April 14, 2004. They will be available in children's hearings court proceedings as well as to adult vulnerable witnesses involved in High Court and Sheriff Court jury cases.
